Born out of the love for all things design, owner Lisa Morgan founded The Morgan Residence to provide creative, artistic, and dependable design solutions.
“I love changing unexpected things and making them into something new. I incorporate the individual’s personality into their space. It is important that everyone’s home be a reflection of who they are and serve as their sanctuary.” - Lisa Morgan
Lisa was born in Houston, Texas and was raised in Oakland, California. Lisa traveled quite often as a child due to her father’s professional baseball career. From a very young age Lisa was able to experience diverse cultures as well as develop a sense of confidence and ability to delve into new adventures wherever she went. Through these experiences Lisa developed her innate sense of creativity.
Lisa began her love affair with design as a child watching her childhood home come to life. She was mesmerized watching a dirt lot transform into her beautiful home all while paying attention to every single detail. She absorbed every moment in which the architect, interior designer and her mother would collaborate. Every single aspect of the process was a collaboration, and this resonated with Lisa. The architect that designed her childhood home was a student of the amazing Frank Lloyd Wright. She was silently learning from one of the greats.
Lisa attended The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising as well as The Academy of Art College, both in San Francisco. She was a student of interior design program. It was during her time at these institutions that she decided that being graded on what her interpretation of art was did not sit well with her. She just wanted to design homes and felt creatively stifled by the traditional constraints of the learning institutions. Lisa boldly chose to leave, and in many ways derail her lifelong dream. Armed with her knowledge and creativity she ventured into the world of make-up where she has been a successful artist for the last 33+ years.
The purchase of her first home reignited her passion for design and it became more evident that her lifelong dream was ever present. She began creating her own artwork, painting her own floors/walls, and redesigning and repurposing her furniture to create her dream home. During this time is when she met Christina Twomey, who quickly became her art mentor and helped Lisa rediscover her love for design when she worked with Twomey on her very first geode table. Through this collaborative process, Lisa had in many ways returned to that moment where her childhood home was being created and with that the Morgan Residence was born.
Lisa currently resides in Los Angeles with her 12 year old daughter, Summer.
